Dungeons & Dragons: The Improvised Campaign
Balthasar the Duelist
Human | Rogue
Balthasar the Duelist is the swashbuckling captain of the legendary pirate ship, The Beggar’s Prize, something of a ghost story among those who traverse the high seas. Though not one to shy away from bloodshed, Balthasar tends to avoid killing if he can; death is a rather messy affair, and one that could stain his frock coat if he’s not careful. By challenging captains in single combat as a means to reduce bloodshed, Balthasar earned his moniker, remaining undefeated until, after a series of reckless, life threatening capers, a mutiny was sprung, pitting Balthasar, and his traitorous first mate, Domhnall against one another. Though Domhnall was outmatched, Balthasar’s bravado was his own undoing as he turned his back to his seemingly bested opponent to chide the crew, and felt a quarrel from Domhnall’s crossbow lodge itself between his shoulder blades. After losing his ship, Balthasar saw many months go by in a haze of drinking, debauchery, and the occasional brawl, until one day, a lust for vengeance awoke within the pirate captain. Now, Balthasar seeks to unseat Domnhall for good, and to reclaim The Beggar’s Prize by any means necessary.
